Annual Carol on the Banjo! 0
Season’s Greetings everyone!
I want to wish you and yours the very best at this special time of year. For some this is a religious and/or spiritual holiday, for others a time to spend with friends and family. For many it is simply a chance to rest and regenerate. For me it is a time of reflection and recuperation. It’s been an amazing year, albeit a busy and exhausting one — non-stop touring with spectacular people (JD Edwards, Scott Nyggard, Amy Speace, BJ Baartmans and Bella Hardy), a new duo project (The Small Glories) and a new album in the works… I’m feeling incredibly blessed. I now have 3 weeks off and plan on reading books, watching many movies, knitting wacky looking scarves (oh yes, I’m back to knitting!!) and moving the ol’ body a lot.
These past several years I’ve been subscribing to a more non-consumer way of celebrating the holidays and thinking of creative gift-giving options. I came up with the idea of arranging Christmas Carols on the banjo, recording them (video) and sending the links to family, friends and fans 🙂 This year’s carol is “Unto Us a Child is Given”, an original song written by the Canadian folk group Tamarack. I heard it on their live Christmas album “Blankets of Snow” and fell madly in love with it.
Hope you enjoy video, please share it with others! 🙂 There’s a silly outtake at the end that might bring a smile to your face…
